Cancellation of Registration
-
Students remain liable for any amounts owed to OTT as at the date of written notice of cancellation. Each cancellation will be dealt with according to each circumstance. No refunds can be considered with outstanding fees, owed to OTT.

Students have the right to cancel any advanced registrations and can claim a refund; however, OTT may impose a reasonable charge for such cancellation.

A sliding scale of charges for cancellation can be used to determine the amount to be charged based on the circumstances of the cancellation. For example, a student who cancels the registration three months prior to commencement will be charged less than a student who cancels two week prior to the commencement of studies. All cancellations must be done prior to the course start date. (Any and all of the courses)

In addition to all cancellations done prior to commencement date – OTT will charge a cancellation fee for the administration of the cancellation.
Slide scale:
60-45 days prior to start date – 20% cancellation fee apply
45-31 days prior to start date – 30% cancellation fee apply
30-15 days prior to start date – 50% cancellation fee apply
14 days or less – 100% cancellation fee apply
“NO SHOW”, non attendance, early departure – 100% cancellation fee apply
Advance registrations:
-
A cancellation fee may not be charged where the student is unable to commence his or her studies due to the death or hospitalization of the student. Similarly, no cancellation fee may be charged to a third party who is unable to honor the registration due to the death or hospitalization of the student.

A reasonable cancellation charge is determined according to the circumstances. It’s for the discretion of the Centre to decide and determine cancellation charges for special circumstances.
Cancellation of studies before completion
-
In the event that students cancel their studies before completion, OTT will be entitled to claim Full payment.

If students have paid their total fees in advance, but cancels their studies prior to completing the course, OTT may charge the student for all fees charged.
Postponement of training / examination
-
A student may request a postponed starting date of course, no less than 7 days prior to confirmed and scheduled start date. Candidates may submit a Dr Letter in cases such as illness or falling sick, in order to postpone their starting date no later than the starting date scheduled.

In cases where a student is a ‘NO SHOW’, he will be marked absent for every day not attended. These days marked absent will not be reimbursed / nor rescheduled, unless the student decides to attend extra training days charged at an additional rate.

In case of a student postponing their course start date, no later cancellation will be accepted or considered.
PPE AND SAFETY RULES
No learner will be allowed to attend workshop/ classes/ practical sites without PPE. The Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) contain 50 sections and 20 sets of regulations. The different regulations specify the specific requirements you must adhere to. This includes requirements about Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Read on to find out what the general safety regulations require when it comes to PPE.
Any learner found stealing, vandalizing or misusing the workshop equipment shall be penalized or even suspended from the sessions.

Olifantsfontein Trade Test: Learner Policy
1. Introduction
At Olifantsfontein Trade Test, we are committed to providing high-quality training and testing services for learners pursuing careers in the trades of Plumbing, Electrical, Welding, Mechanical Fitting, Fitting and Turning and Millwright. Our mission is to uphold industry standards and instill the highest levels of discipline, professionalism, and technical competence in all our learners.
This Learner Policy outlines the expectations, responsibilities, and disciplinary framework governing learner conduct throughout the training and testing period.
2. Code of Conduct
All learners are expected to:

Attend all training and assessment sessions punctually.

Treat instructors, staff, fellow learners, and property with respect.

Follow all safety procedures and wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
-
Take responsibility for their own learning and conduct.
-
Refrain from any form of dishonesty or disruption.
3. Attendance and Punctuality

Learners must arrive on time for all sessions.
-
Any absence must be communicated in advance with a valid reason.
-
Repeated absenteeism or lateness may result in disciplinary action or removal from the program.
4. Safety and Compliance
-
Safety is non-negotiable. All learners must strictly adhere to site-specific safety protocols.

Any behavior endangering oneself or others will lead to immediate disciplinary action.
5. Zero Tolerance Policy on Alcohol and Substance Abuse
Olifantsfontein Trade Test enforces a strict zero tolerance policy on alcohol misuse and substance abuse.
-
No learner may report for training or assessment under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or any intoxicating substances.
-
No possession, use, distribution, or sale of alcohol or drugs is permitted on the premises at any time.
-
Random drug and alcohol testing may be conducted without prior notice.
-
Any violation will result in immediate suspension and possible permanent expulsion from the program.
-
Refusal to undergo a drug or alcohol test when requested will be treated as a positive result.
This policy is enforced to protect the safety of all individuals on-site and to uphold the integrity of the trades we represent.
6. Gross Misconduct
The following actions constitute gross misconduct and will result in immediate disciplinary action, which may include summary dismissal from the training and/or testing program:

Theft, vandalism, or intentional damage to property.
-
Physical violence or threats of violence.
-
Harassment, bullying, or discriminatory behavior.
-
Cheating or attempting to cheat during assessments or tests.
-
Tampering with or misuse of tools, equipment, or safety gear.
-
Unauthorized absence from site or training facilities.
-
Possession of weapons or dangerous objects.
-
Any behavior that brings the institution into disrepute.
Learners dismissed for gross misconduct will not be eligible for a refund or re-enrollment.
7. Disciplinary Procedure
-
Verbal Warnings – for minor first-time offenses.
-
Final Warning / Suspension – for serious offenses.
-
Expulsion – for gross misconduct or breach of the zero tolerance policy.
In all disciplinary matters, learners will have the right to a fair hearing and to appeal decisions through the appropriate channels.
